    In 1981, the Würzburg Residence Palace with the Court Gardens was included in the UNESCO World Heritage List as an extraordinary baroque synthesis of the arts. It was created as a joint masterpiece by important artists and represents one of the most magnificent palaces in Europe.

    At 85 hectares, the vineyard Würzburger Stein is Germany's largest individual plot. It is one of the most famous vineyards in the world. In addition to the universities and the University Hospital Würzburg, institutions like the Kunststoff-Zentrum SKZ, the Fraunhofer Institute for Silicate Research, the Fraunhofer Institute for Integrated Circuits or the Center for Applied Energy Research create an innovative environment. Important academic research centres include, for example, the Rudolf Virchow Center for Experimental Biomedicine, the Helmholtz Institute for RNA-based Infection Research or the Max Planck Research Group for Systems Immunology.

  • Ideal transport connections

    700 trains a day make getting here easy. Würzburg's main train station is located at the intersection of several busy rail routes. In addition, Würzburg is located at the intersection of the most important and longest German motorways: A3 Cologne-Frankfurt-Würzburg-Passau and A7 Hamburg-Hanover-Würzburg-Ulm. Moreover, the motorway A81 Würzburg-Heilbronn-Stuttgart-Singen to the south starts here as well. There is an hourly direct high-speed ICE train connection to Frankfurt International Airport (90 minutes travel time). Nuremberg Airport can be reached by train and car in just over an hour. Distances within the city of Würzburg are also short. As an example, it is just a 10-minute walk from the train platform to the Congress Centrum.
